Even though government resumes are different from private sector resumes, when it comes to preparing for interviews, the process is the same.
- First you need to prepare a summary of your Federal resume so that whenever the Federal hiring manager asks you the usual "tell me about yourself question" you know what to say.
- Then you should anticipate any question they might have and have some answers ready as well.
- Also prepare some questions about the job to show you are interested in the position - if you don't, they might think you are not interested.
- Be confident and outgoing without overdoing it
- Be well-groomed and wear business clothes
- Finally, don't forget to send a thank you letter after the interview: it will show that you are interested in the job and will allow you to mention points you might have forgotten to mention during the interview
